Starting this month, Cornerstone Center for the Arts will be offering spring six-week classes and workshops for the public.
The classes are available for children, adults and families with dates between March 13 and May.
"Our programs offer a creative outlet to members of our community that may not otherwise have the opportunity to express themselves," said Jessie Fisher, Cornerstone Center for the Arts education and marketing coordinator.
The workshops are open to the Muncie community and Ball State students.
"With everything from one-time, low-commitment workshops to weekly classes, there truly is something for everyone at Cornerstone," Fisher said.
Here are the activities offered during the spring classes:
Kids & Paints
This workshop is open to young artists ages 7 and up. Families will be able to create their own masterpieces. The workshops will also include a step-by-step lesson on how to paint the featured painting. The Kids & Paints workshops will only take place on March 17 and April 21. There is a $25 fee per person, which includes supplies and instruction.
Coffee & Paints
Similar to Pints & Paints, people from ninth grade to adults are welcome to come enjoy painting in a relaxed atmosphere together. The workshops are on March 18, April 1, April 22 and May 13. There is a $25 fee per person.
Monthly Dance Club
The class will be feature swing, salsa, tango and ballroom dancing. Each event will begin with an hour of dance instruction led by dance instructor David Fenning. The upcoming Monthly Dance Club dates are March 18 and April 1.
Cornerstone's Spring Break Arts Camp
Cornerstone will be offering an art camp for children during their Spring Break. The camp is open to children ages 7 through 14. The camp features classes in visual arts, dance, theater and martial arts. The camp is from March 21 to 23 and meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a $75 registration fee per child or $50 fee per child for families who register multiple children.
Pints & Paints
Pints & Paints will be a workshop offered for adults ages 21 and over in downtown Muncie at the Fickle Peach. Attendees will be able to enjoy two hours of creating a feature painting. Workshops will be held on March 30, April 13, April 27 and May 11. There is a $25 fee per person, which includes one drink.
Mapping Notable Women Around the World
In collaboration with BSU's GIS Research and Map Collection, Cornerstone will be hosting a Mapping Notable Women Around the World workshop. The presentation will feature maps that tell the story of the notable leaders and events that shaped women's history around the world and also in Muncie. The presentation will be at 6 p.m. March 29. This workshop is open to anyone 14 and up and is also free to attend.
