After months of training and several hard fought races, the Ball State cross country team will toe the starting line one final time this season at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Madison, Wisconsin Nov. 11.

Ball State will look to build off its 10th place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championship two weeks ago. While it was the team's best finish in the MAC since 2012, the team continues to stress the importance of overall improvement for the program.

Freshman Emily Tromp has led the Cardinals the majority of the season. Tromp has finished first for the Cardinals in three of their last four races. They will need more of the same from her to put up a strong final result.

Ball State will be facing serious competition in this week's regional. Several Big Ten Conference teams, including Indiana University, the University of Michigan and Purdue University, will make an appearance in Madison. Familiar foes like Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, a team the Cardinals have seen multiple times this season, will also be at the Great Lakes Regional.

The women's 6K race at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course will take place at 1 p.m. Nov. 11.
