Cardinals finish 10th at MAC Cross Country Championship

Ball State finished 10th in the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championship, its first time cracking the top 10 since 2012.

While the Cardinals fell short of their goal to finish eighth or better, they did improve on last season's result. 

Ball State finished 10th out of 12 teams in Kent, Ohio, Oct. 29 with a total team score of 249. The top three places, in order, went to Eastern Michigan (27), Northern Illinois (78) and Bowling Green (116).

Sophomore Stephanie McElhaney crossed the finish line first for the Cardinals, finishing in 41st in scoring and 42nd overall. She ran the 6,000 meter course with a time of 22:49.3. 

She was followed by freshman Emily Tromp, who finished 44th with a time of 22:54.3.

Freshman Lauren Whitehouse (47), junior Jordan Timmons (53) and junior Jessica Bryzek (64) rounded out the five scoring runners for Ball State.

The Cardinals return to action Nov. 11 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Madison, Wisconsin.
