After Ball State's 31-27 win over Florida Atlantic, the duo that connected for the Cardinals' first touchdown of the game was honored Sept. 28.

Sophomore quarterback Riley Neal was honored as the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, and senior tight end Sam Brunner was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, given annually to the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation.

Neal hit Brunner down the middle of the field for a 26-yard touchdown early in the second quarter to cut Florida Atlantic's lead to 14-7. It was Brunner's first touchdown catch of the season.
