Things to do for the 4th of July

If you're looking for something to do on the 4th of July, here are some events in the Muncie area for the holiday. 

Summers Stage Fest at Minnetrista: America’s Hometown Band and fireworks

America’s Hometown Band is Muncie’s community band, an installation that dates back to the 1800s. This free event will start at 8 p.m. on July 4 and fireworks will start at 10 p.m. 

Prairie Creek Reservoir firework display

Prairie Creek Reservoir will put on its own firework display at dusk July 2. The event is free, and the reservoir is located on County Road 560-E.

Yorktown 4th of July Celebration

A small jaunt outside of Muncie, Yorktown will have a firework display at Morrow’s Meadow at 10 p.m. on the 4th. In addition to the fireworks, there will be a carnival starting on the July 3 with events lasting both days.

Party on the Plaza

If you don’t mind taking a trip to Indianapolis for the 4th, the Indianapolis City Market will be hosting Party on the Plaza. There will be live music, food and games. Those in attendance will also have a view of the Donatos Freedom Blast fireworks display.
