Lucas Andersen earns MAC tennis Singles Player of the Week

Andersen began his weekend at the Cardinal Creek tennis courts against Buffalo. He led the match off with a 6-1, 6-2 sweep over Buffalo's Pablo Alvarez. Then in doubles competition, he joined up with fellow junior Patrick Downs. The pair swept 6-0 in doubles competition on April 15.

The Cardinals returned on April 17 and Andersen began right were he left off, continuing his winning ways.

Andersen opened the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) victory over Western Michigan's Malik Steiner. He was one of two single winners for the Cardinals, the other being Downs. The pair lost in doubles competition against Western Michigan's Stephen Payne/Ruben Greiner 6-3.

This season, Andersen has posted a 17-12 overall record with a 13-7 dual record. He is also the only men's tennis player to face off against National Competition this season, going 0-4 in those matches.

Ball State men's tennis finishes its regular season on April 22 on Toledo. The team will then have a week off before the MAC Tournament on April 29-30.
