Ball State to host Northern Kentucky

Ball State baseball (24-17, 10-5 MAC) will play Northern Kentucky (15-26, 4-15 Horizon League) April 26 at 3 p.m.

The Cardinals hit .294 as a team, led by junior first baseman Caleb Stayton's .395 batting average. Stayton is also tied for second in the National Collegiate Athletic Association with 57 RBIs on the season, and he leads Ball State with eight home runs.

Leadoff hitter Alex Call, a junior right fielder, is hitting .384, and his 50 runs scored are the sixth-most in the NCAA.

Ball State's lineup will square off against a Northern Kentucky staff that has allowed four or more runs in each of its last four games and has a 5.77 ERA on the season.

Northern Kentucky batters are hitting .265 and senior catcher Logan Spurlin leads the Norse with a .326 batting average and six home runs. Northern Kentucky will have to contend with a Cardinals pitching staff that has a 3.95 ERA.

Ball State lost two of its last three games, but Northern Kentucky is on a four-game losing streak and has lost six of its last seven.
