MUNCIE, IN (WCRD Weather) -- After the storm has passed many think the danger is over, but that is not always the case. The time immediately following the storm can be some of the most dangerous if you are not careful. From downed power lines, to flooded roads and sharp or dangerous debris, it is important that one takes extra care following a storm to stay safe until emergency services can secure the area. WCRD Weather Forecasters Chelsea Smith and Kendra Rauner explain the information that you need to know in order to stay safe immediately following the storm.

Following the storm, local media is your best source for updates about things such as power outages and recovery efforts. Make sure to follow local TV and Radio for the latest updates. Having a battery powered radio is a good way to stay informed, as even when cell towers are down, local radio can still be heard. Stay safe and stay informed.
