Nicole Steinbach wins 3rd MAC West Pitcher of the Week award

Ball State senior pitcher Nicole Steinbach won her third Mid-American Conference West Pitcher of the Week award this season.

Over the weekend of March 18-20, Steinbach pitched against Massachusetts and Boston at the Maryland Tournament. She collected two wins to add to her team high total of eleven. 

Her first outing was against the University of Massachusetts in which she went a full seven innings, allowing zero earned runs on four hits and striking out five. This marked her team leading 10th complete game of the year and her third complete game shutout.

She capped off her weekend when she relieved sophomore pitcher Carolyn Wilmes in the fourth inning against Boston. She went four innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and four strikeouts.

Over the weekend, she held opponents to just a .217 batting average

Steinbach currently leads the Cardinals in wins (11), innings pitched (98.1), strikeouts (70), complete games (10) and ERA (3.13). She sits at fifth in the MAC in strikeouts.

The Cardinals will play their final non-conference game on March 23 against Butler in Indianapolis. Ball State begins MAC play this weekend with three games against Miami in Oxford, Ohio.
