There were two top-15 finishers for the Cardinals on the first day of the invitational.

Freshman Regan Lewis was able to walk away with an eighth-place finish on the high jump after getting over the 1.67-meter opening height on her second jump. This was just short of her career best of 1.68m.

The other top-15 finish came from senior Marie Lumpkin with her overall 17.47m throw.

The 4x400m relay team finished with 3:48.89 and consisted of freshman Amber McGee (57.2), junior Olivia Ashba (57.1), sophomore Gabby Sims (55.9) and senior Danielle Dahl (58.3), finishing just outside of the top 15.

This was the fastest a 4x400m Ball State relay team finished since Feb. 11, 2006, when the relay team finished with a time of 3:42.81.

Dahl was also able to finish with her second-best 800m run in her indoor career (2:14.61), along with her efforts in the 4x400m relay. Her career best in the 800m run was set in 2014 at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships with a time of 2:13.80.

Another senior, Michaela Hull, had an impressive throw of 13.22m in the shot put, good for 25th place overall.

Ball State’s next meet will be Feb. 12-13 in Allendale, Mich., at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet.
