After defeating first place Central Michigan on the road Feb. 13, Ball State men's basketball began preparing to travel to Miami on Feb. 16.

Ball State (16-9, 7-5 Mid-American Conference) defeated Miami (9-16, 3-9 MAC) earlier in the season on Jan. 16 after mounting a 16-point comeback against the RedHawks. Jeremiah Davis’ last second layup pushed the Cardinals past Miami, 48-46, in Worthen Arena.

Coach James Whitford started the season with only one road victory during his time at Ball State. Ball State won four of its past five road games and holds a 4-2 record away from Worthen Arena this season.

Ball State has 213 3-pointers this season, which ranks as the fourth most in program history and third best in the MAC this season.

The last time Ball State played against Miami, they shot a season low 36-percent and committed 17 turnovers.

Coaches Whitford and Jason Grunkemeyer are revisiting a familiar confine. Grunkemeyer helped take the Miami Redhawks to a Sweet 16 as a player in 1999 when Whitford was an assistant coach on the staff.

With only six games left, every game is crucial heading into the conference tournament. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
