Ball State goalkeeper Alyssa Heintschel was selected as the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer on Nov. 2.

Heintschel had two shutouts over the weekend.

The first was during a 1-0 victory against Miami on the road Oct. 29 to give Ball State the MAC regular season conference title. The second was during the MAC quarterfinal matchup when she held Akron scoreless for 110 minutes before they moved on in the conference tournament on penalty kicks.

With the 14th win against Miami, Heintschel tied Alison Becker (2005) for the most wins in a season by a Ball State goalkeeper.

This was Heintschel's second time winning the award and the fifth time where a Cardinal soccer player won they award.
