Lowery’s Candies specializes in making treats that you can’t get anywhere. With the holidays quickly approaching manager of Lowery’s Candies, Vicki Brown, says this season they will offer a few special treats.

“This year we’re going to make a chocolate cream with a caramel center and Charles is making a molasses chew, which would be a real old fashion type candy, and then we are making roasted pecan halves with sea salt on top,“ Brown said.

Since 1941 Lowery’s Candies has remained a family-owned business settling in Muncie in 1964.

“I grew up in the house in the front part that they turned into a candy shop so I’ve been in it since I was 14, “ Brown said.

Head cook, Charles Joseph, also grew up in the house that is now Lowery’s Candies. He said the team is gearing up for the holidays.

“During Christmas time I will put in 70 hours a week, right now I have a 40 hour work week but when we do work a lot of hours it’s fun because of the family atmosphere,” Joseph said.

Lowery’s Candies is located at 6255 W. Kilgore Avenue, and open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
