Watts shines in last place finish

Sophomore Johnny Watts finished with a tie for ninth place overall at The Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio. 

Watts's total was 213, three under par. His final round was his best performance at 70, two under par.

As a team, the Cardinals finished in last place, wrapping up the second round in fourteenth place.

Besides Watts, none of the Cardinals finished in the top 50 individually. The only other Cardinal who came close to breaking the top 50 was James Blackwell who tied for 52nd with a 223 total. 

Prior to this tournament the Cardinals finished in third place at the Badger Invitational. 

Ball State will return to action Oct. 12 at the Crooked Stick Invitational in Carmel, Ind.
