Homecoming festivities result in Ball State Break-ins

Last week's homecoming festivities were a fun experience for most students, but left some with broken-in homes, vehicles and even stolen items.

During Homecoming there were a number of house and car break-ins, but according to the Ball State and Muncie Police Department, that is nothing out of the ordinary. Ball State student, Quintin Slaboda, is one of the victims that came home to a broken back door.

"We came back from Air Jam late at night and we saw the back door was broken into and we realized someone was trying to break into our house, but thankfully the dead bolt held and [we] called the cops and they came over," Slaboda said. "We decided to buy motion detecting lights to light up the house outside."

UPD is advising students to lock their doors during the day, as well as at night, and to be sure personal items are not visible from the outside of vehicles.
