Weekly Honors this Season

Aug. 31st - Alyssa Heintschel (defensive)

Sept. 28th - Chelsy Swackhamer (offensive)

Oct. 5th - Leah Mattingly (defensive)

Soccer's junior defender Leah Mattingly has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the fourth time a Ball State soccer player has been honored by the MAC for a weekly award this school year.

Mattingly assisted the Cardinals' defense by limiting opponents to six shots on goal throughout the week. She has played this entire season on the defensive end, and only one team has managed to score more than one goal against the Cardinals this season.

Ball State remains the only undefeated team in the MAC at 4-0. They also remain undefeated at home (2-0) with an 8-2-2 season record.

Over the weekend, Mattingly scored in both of the matches. After a goal against Toledo, she capitalized on a 22-yard free kick in the 82nd minute for the winning goal against Central Michigan.

She shares this week's award with Bowling Green goalkeeper Lauren Cadel.

Mattingly and the Cardinals will return to Briner Sports Complex for a pair of home matches Oct. 9 and Oct. 11.
