Ball State falls to MAC East leader Kent State

The Cardinals are 21-11 overall and 7-3 in Mid-American Conference play.

Offensively, sophomore Alex Call led Ball State with two hits. Senior Elbert Devarie and sophomore Matt Eppers each added a hit.

Sophomore Alex Maloney was walked twice in the game.

Sophomore Zach Plesac finished with the loss on the mound. He pitched eight innings, allowing nine hits and three earned runs while striking out two Kent State batters.

The golden flashes scored all three of their runs in the third innings.

Ball State's loss to Kent State is the first time this season when the Cardinals have started a three game series with a loss. The teams will return to action April 11 at 4 p.m for the second game of the series.
