Ball State falls 4-3 at Toledo

The Cardinals drop to 10-4 (0-2) on the season with the loss.

Toledo began the match with a win in doubles play. Senior Courtney Wild and Bethany Moore lost at No. 1 doubles by a score of 6-1. The Rockets then captured the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3 over sophomore Toni Ormond and senior Ashlyn Rang.

Junior Courtney Earnest and sophomore Rosalinda Calderon were trailing 5-4 when their match was suspended.

In singles play, Ball State regained the match lead at 2-1 with wins from Ormond and Earnest at No. 3 and No. 2, respectively. After Toledo regained the lead with wins at No. 5 and No. 6, Wild picked up a 6-7, 6-3, 6-1 victory at the top spot to tie the match at 3-3.

Rang lost in a third set at No. 4 singles to Emily Mazzola, and the Rockets came away with the victory.

Ball State will return to the court on April 3 in Muncie against Buffalo.
