Ball State women's basketball coach Brady Sallee announced the signing of Logansport senior Nakeya Penny to a national letter of intent Wednesday.

Penny, a 5-foot-11 guard, has scored more than 1,100 points in her career while leading the Berries to three conference titles. She has earned First Team All-North Central Conference honors twice in her career, while also being named to the IBCA/Subway girls all-state honorable mention team.

"We are very excited to welcome Nakeya to our Ball State family," Sallee said in a statement. "Physically, we're adding a player that has all the skills you could ask for in a wing player and size that will make her a tough match-up for anyone we play.

"Most importantly, Nakeya is a high character young lady and will undoubtedly represent Ball State in ways which that we will all be proud of. She is the exact fit we need as we continue to push this program forward."

Penny will join the Cardinals in 2014-15.
