Ball State women's basketball forward Nathalie Fontaine was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, her third time winning the weekly conference award.

A junior, Fontaine scored her 1,000th career point in the team's opening game against Purdue on Nov. 14 at Worthen Arena. She reached the milestone faster than any player in Ball State history besides Hall of Famer Tamara Bowie.

Fontaine led all scorers against the Boilermakers with 21 points, and added 12 rebounds.

The Cardinals will return to action Nov. 19 as they host in-state opponent Evansville as the second game of a two-game home stand to begin the season. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
