WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cardinals suffer 0-3 loss at Northern Illinois

The Ball State women’s volleyball team fell to Northern Illinois 3-0 Sept. 27, bringing the Cardinals' record in the Mid-American Conference to 1-1.

The match remained close throughout the first two sets, as Northern Illinois won 25-21 and 25-23. However, the Huskies were able to pull away in the third set, winning 25-15.

Ball State had 38 kills in the match, with an attack percentage of .258. Redshirt juniors Kelly Hopkins and Hayley Benson led the team with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Redshirt freshman Sabrina Mangapora added nine.

Setter Jenna Spadafora tallied 33 assists for the Cardinals.

Defensively, Ball State struggled, as Northern Illinois was able to hit .392 in the match, with 43 kills.

A night after registering 15 blocks against Western Michigan, Ball State totaled just three against Northern Illinois. 

Libero Alex Fuelling led Ball State with 10 digs, while Spadafora finished with 9.

With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 7-8 on the season. 

Ball State returns to the court on Oct. 3 against Eastern Michigan.
