4th Quarter

At the end of the game, Toledo defeats Ball State 34-23.

Facing third and 17, a screen picked up 16, leaving Toledo looking at fourth and one, and Toledo converted. Toledo punched the ball in and extended the lead to 34-16.

Ball State started its drive off on its own 40. Edwards rushed for a first down, and after an incomplete pass and rush for no gain, Mann hit Shillings for 11 yards and a first down. Mann rushed for a first down, and then hit Williams to set up third and five. The third down pass fell short.

On fourth and five, Mann found Shillings for seven yards and a first down to the Toledo 16. Two plays later, Mann completed an eight-yard pass to Williams for a touchdown, cutting Toledo's lead to 34-23. 

After Secor's kickoff went out of bounds, Toledo started its drive at the Ball State 46. Two runs for seven yards and a seven-yard completion by Woodside to Russell had the Rockets at the Cardinals' 32-yard line. Toledo rushed the ball seven straight times before taking a knee and running out the clock. 

3rd Quarter

After the third quarter, Toledo leads Ball State 27-16.

Patterson returned the kickoff to the Ball State 30-yard line. Edwards carried the ball to the Toledo 48, but the drive stalled. Ball State punted and Toledo took over on its own 25.

The Rockets used runs up the middle to push the ball down to the Cardinals 45. Facing fourth and one, Toledo punted, and Ball State took over on its own two-yard line.

Three rushes from Edwards picked up a Ball State first down, then Mann hit Williams along the sideline for another first down. After two incompletions and a rush for one yard by Edwards, Ball State punted, and Toledo took over on the Ball State 37.

Facing fourth and four, Woodside hit his receiver for a five-yard completion to move the chains. He then hit Alonzo Russell for a touchdown, and after the extra point, Toledo led 27-9.

Patterson took the kickoff out to the Ball State 25. Mann hit Mabon, who went out of bounds at the Ball State 42. Mann fired a pass deep to Mabon, who made a catch while falling backwards in the end zone for the touchdown. After the extra point, Toledo led 27-16.

Toledo started its next drive on its own 28. Woodside earned a first down by fitting a pass in between two Ball State defenders. The clock expired.

2nd Quarter 

At halftime, Toledo led Ball State 20-9.

Mann found Mabon for an 18-yard gain to the Toledo 19, but the drive stalled, and Secor added another field goal to cut Toledo’s lead to 20-6.

Toledo took over on its own six-yard line. Hunt picked up a first down, but Woodside threw two incompletions and then was picked off by Dedrick Cromartie, who returned the ball to the Toledo 22.

Edwards rushed to the Toledo seven and the drive stalled. Secor hit his third field goal of the night, Toledo leading 20-9.

Toledo returned the kickoff to its own two-yard line. After a three and out, Ball State took over on its own 29. After Williams picked up a first down off a 12-yard pass, Banks picked up nine yards and Mann ran a quarterback sneak and picked up the first down. Williams picked up another first down, and so did Edwards. Mann’s third down pass fell incomplete, Secor missed a field goal.

Hunt ripped off a 43-yard run to the Ball State 30, and Woodside fumbled, recovered by Ball State.

The Cardinals took over on its own 17-yard line, and the half ended.

1st Quarter

At the end of the first quarter, Toledo leads Ball State 20-3.

Toledo took over on its own 25-yard line to start its first possession. On the first play, Toledo broke off a 34-yard rush to the Ball State 41, a deep pass down to the Ball State three, and then quarterback Logan Woodside ran it in for a touchdown. The extra point was missed, keeping the score at 6-0.

Ball State’s Eric Patterson returned the kickoff to the 25-yard line, but a holding penalty brought the ball back to the 11. Two rushes from Jahwan Edwards and a short pass to Jordan Williams got Ball State a first down, but the drive stalled. After a punt, Toledo took over on its own 40.

After a short two-yard gain, tornado sirens went off and the game was delayed for two hours and 42 minutes.  

Facing third and eight, Toledo completed a pass deep to the Ball State 27. Close to the end zone, Woodside rushed in for his second touchdown, and after the extra point, the score was 13-0 Toledo.

Patterson took the kickoff to the Ball State 32-yard line. Quarterback Ozzie Mann hit Chris Shillings and Williams to pick up a first down, and a 17-yard gain from Edwards picked up another. After the drive stalled, kicker Scott Secor hit a 49-yard field goal to cut Toledo’s lead to 13-3.

The kickoff was returned to the Toledo 24. The Rockets moved down the field quickly into Ball State territory and, facing third and 12, Woodside picked up a first down on a 14-yard carry. A pass interference penalty put the ball on the Ball State 14. Kareem Hunt took the handoff and broke two tackles on his way to the end zone, and after the extra point, Toledo led 20-3.

KeVonn Mabon returned the kickoff to the Ball State 39. After a pass interference penalty, Mann found Shillings for a first down to the Toledo 44. After a carry of seven from Horactio Banks, the quarter ended.
