CROSS COUNTRY: Ball State places fifth in West Lafayette

The Ball State cross country team traveled to West Lafayette Sept. 19 to compete in the three-mile Indiana Intercollegiate Championship race.

Placing fifth, Ball State’s scored runners tallied up 141 points, putting them behind Indiana (15), Purdue (51), IUPUI (102), and Indiana State (112).

Leading the Cardnials for the third consecutive race were senior twin sisters Courtney and Caitlynn Edon. Courtney took 15th overall, running a time of 18:03.8, while Caitlynn finished 21st overall, with a time of 18:26.3.

The team also competed in the three-mile open race. Freshman Sarah Hoppes finished first for Ball State, running a time of 19:38.2 to take 29th place overall.

Ball State will continue its season at the Notre Dame Invitational Oct. 4 in South Bend, Ind.
