SOFTBALL: Team adds 2 transfers for 2015

The Ball State softball team has signed transfers Rachel Houck and India Steward for the 2015 season, said head coach Tyra Perry.

“We are very excited to add Rachel and India to our program,” Perry said in a statement. “Rachel played multiple sports in high school and understands how to successfully fulfill her role. She has the potential to be a powerhouse at the plate. … India will bring the boost of speed we need to both our offense and defense.”

As a freshman at Louisville last season, Houck played in 14 games helping the Cardinals win the American Athletic Conference. She had one hit in 12 at-bats with an RBI and three runs scored.

Steward, also a freshman last year, played in 50 games with Western Kentucky. She managed 13 hits, eight stolen bases, six RBI and 14 runs.

Houck and Steward will both have three years of eligibility remaining at the start of the 2015 season.
