WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Team moves to 2-1 with win over Northern Colorado

The Ball State women's volleyball team defeated the Northern Colorado Bears with a score of 3-0 in its final game of the Active Ankle Challenge Aug. 30 at Worthen Arena.

The Cardinals captured the Active Ankle Challenge championship with the win.

Offensively, Ball State hit .144 as a team with 40 kills. Alex Fuelling led the way with 11 kills, while Kelly Hopkins registered 10 and Hayley Benson had nine.

Northern Colorado came into the game at 2-0 prior to the loss.

The Cardinals were able to slow down the Bears’ attack throughout the match, holding them to just a .108 hitting percentage.

Ball State also recorded 11 team blocks, a season high. Hayley Benson led the way with 4.5 individually.

Ball State is now 2-1 on the season.

The Cardinals will return to action Sept. 5 at the UniWyo Wyoming Invite. They will play Montana at 12 p.m. and then Wyoming at 9 p.m.
