Former Ball State student Zach Decker died Saturday. He was 21.

Decker was a former member of the Ball State Sigma Chi chapter.

"Zach Decker was loved by many within the Ball State University community, and we are saddened to learn of his passing," Chris Wootton, chapter president, said in a statement.

Decker graduated from Indianapolis' Cathedral High School, which hosted a memorial service Monday to release balloons in his memory.

A Facebook group was created for his family and friends to post memories of Decker. Many have posted photos, which his family wish to compile to remember him, according to the group.

The visitation is today from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 7243 E. 10th St. in Indianapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Decker, an Indianapolis native, was born Oct. 24, 1992, to Kelly Doyle Day and Paul A. Decker. He is survived by his parents and his brothers, Tyler C. Decker and Cooper C. Day, as well as his grandparents, Charlie A. and Mary Decker and Jean Stiehl.
