BASEBALL: Plesac honored as the National Freshman Pitcher of the Year

Ball State pitcher Zach Plesac has been named the National Freshman Pitcher of the Year by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Plesac finished the 2014 season ranked fourth in the nation with 12 pitching victories, while recording 67 strikeouts in 85.1 innings pitched. The right-hander also tallied six saves and pitched to a 2.11 earned-run average.

In addition to being named as the National Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Plesac has already been honored as the Mid-American Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year, as well as being named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-America Team and to the Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team.
