Former Ball State pitcher Nestor Bautista was taken by the Miami Marlins with the second pick in the 32nd round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Bautista is the third former Cardinal to be taken in this year’s draft, as pitcher T.J. Weir and outfielder Sean Godfrey were drafted by the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves, respectively.

In his senior season, Bautista pitched to a 3.55 earned-run average while striking out 25 hitters in 25.1 innings pitched.
