WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State falls to .500 after Creighton loss

Cardinals defense, offense can't match opposition

The Creighton offense turned out to be too much for Ball State.

Ball State (4-4) lost its first match in the Northern Colorado Classic to Creighton (6-1) in three sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-21).

Ball State couldn't get anything going offensively as Creighton held Ball State to a .158 attack percentage.

Creighton's 13 team blocks played a big role in Ball State's miscues.

The Cardinals' three recorded blocks were not enough to hamper an offense that dominated from the outset.

Creighton finished the match with a .373 attack percentage including a .548 mark in the second set.

Senior outside hitter Kara Bates led Ball State with eight kills.

The Cardinals made it more competitive in the third set with four lead changes but didn't have enough in the end of the set to overcome Creighton.

Ball State plays on Saturday against Northern Colorado beginning at 12 p.m. (MT).
