MEN'S BASKETBALL: Ball State announces non-conference schedule for 2012-13

Team plays Indiana, Purdue in same season for first time in history

After two straight seasons without the Hoosiers or the Boilermakers on the schedule, the Ball State men's basketball team will play both this season.

The team announced its non-conference schedule Wednesday, which includes a stretch of games at Indiana University (Nov. 25), at Butler (Dec. 1) and at Purdue University (Dec. 18), all within one month of each other.

It is the first time Ball State has played Indiana and Purdue in the same season.

Indiana, a projected top-five team, returns all five starters from a squad that reached the Sweet 16 in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Purdue also won an NCAA Tournament game last season before falling to Kansas in the 3rd round.

Ball State's most notable non-conference home games include 2009 NCAA Tournament participant Cleveland State (Nov. 28) of the Horizon League, Indiana State (Nov. 20) and IUPUI (Dec. 23).

On Nov. 11, Ball State opens its season against Grambling State at 2 p.m. in Worthen Arena.
