WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Two home tournaments scheduled for 2012-13 season

"Battle of the Shondells" will not have a round two this season

Ball State's non-conference schedule for its 2012-13 season is beginning to come together, starting with two home tournaments.

The Cardinals will likely open their season at home with the Active Ankle Challenge, a four-team round robin tournament between Ball State, Gardner-Webb, Illinois State and Virginia Commonwealth on Aug. 24-25.

Ball State will play both Illinois State and VCU on Aug. 25, starting with the latter match at 11 a.m.

Ball State will then host the Ball State Tournament on Sep. 14-15. The event will include the host team, Wright State, Wyoming and Pittsburgh.

A rematch of the "Battle of the Shondells" will also not take place for the 2012 season. Purdue's recently released schedule did not include a match with Ball State.

The matchup, which ended 3-1 in Purdue's favor in 2011, pits brothers Dave Shondell and Steve Shondell against each other as the team's coaches.
