MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Libero Bobby Renaud verbally commits to Ball State

Renaud withdraws commitment to NAIA team to join Cardinals

As of the 2012-13 season, Tommy Rouse won't be Ball State's only libero on the roster.

Victor J. Andrew High School (Ill.) senior libero Bobby Renaud confirmed via Twitter on Monday night that he has verbally committed to the Ball State men's volleyball team.

Renaud was previously committed to NAIA team St. Ambrose. He said he withdrew from his commitment on Monday.

Besides playing for the Victor J. Andrew High School boy's volleyball team, Renaud also competed on the Ultimate volleyball club. He said Jack Lesure, a fellow Ball State recruit, joined him as a player on the club last year.

Lesure tweeted on Monday, "ME AND @BobbyRenaud ARE GONNA BE TEAMMATES AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!"

The Ultimate volleyball club website lists Renaud as a 5-foot-11 right-handed libero, weighing 132 pounds with a 10-foot-7 jump-touch.

Renaud will join a Ball State roster that currently carries only one libero in Rouse.

Ball State is coming off a 14-12 season with a 6-8 record in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. The team's season ended on April 25 in a 0-3 loss to Ohio State in the semifinals of the MIVA Tournament.
