WOMEN'S GOLF: Ball State stands in seventh place after round one

Freshman Hague leads the team with a score of 77

The Ball State women's golf team struggled in round one of the Mid-American Conference Preview Tournament and is placed in seventh and 12 strokes behind leaders Eastern Michigan and Toledo.

The tournament is at The Hawthorns Golf Club in Fishers, Ind.

The Cardinals finished round one with an overall score of 317, led by freshman Jenna Hague with a score of 77, tying her for 15th.

The 14-team tournament also includes competing teams Akron, Bowling Green, Butler, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Indiana State, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan.

The Cardinals have two individuals competing in the event. Freshman Jamie Caylor is tied for 28th posting an 80, and sophomore Sarah Westaway scored an 81 and is tied for 33rd.

The Cardinals will finish the tournament with 18 holes beginning at 9:30 a.m. today.
