WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State rebounds with win over Sacred Heart

Bates blasts 15 kills, her highest amount in her first season with Ball State

With two losses in a low after starting the season with nine straight wins, the Ball State women's volleyball team needed to take its anger out on someone.

Sacred Heart happened to be that someone Saturday morning.

Ball State claimed its 10th win of the season by beating Sacred Heart 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21).

The match featured a great performance from junior outside hitter Kara Bates. The Maryland transfer hit a match-high 15 kills on 33 attempts to earn a .394 attack percentage. She also had eight digs and four block assists.

Bates' kill total was her highest this season with Ball State.

Setter Brittany McGinnis continued her solid senior campaign with 36 assists and three kills.

Sophomore Catie Fredrich also continued to shine in her first season at libero with a match-high 19 digs.

Ball State now owns a 10-2 record with the victory.

The Cardinals will play their final match of the Spartan Invitational today against Virginia Commonwealth at 5:30 p.m.
