FIELD HOCKEY: Ball State wins first game of the season

Cardinals dominate RedHawks to earn 3-0 win

Having lost eight in a row to Miami dating back to 2006, Ball State finally snapped its losing streak.

The Cardinals took a 3-0 victory over the RedHawks in its first Mid-American Conference game of the season today.

The win was the first for Ball State in 2011.

The Cardinals (1-6) dominated the RedHawks in every aspect of the game. Junior midfielder Marisa Weachter netted her first career-goal, while senior captain forward Devanny Kuhn recorded her second goal of the season on a hard slap shot from the top of the circle to give Ball State a 2-0 lead.

Newcomer Sanne Hermans also recorded her second goal of the season for the Cardinals.
