MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State falls short of national ranking

Win against Lewis not enough to push Cardinals into top-15

Ball State's 2-3 loss to Division II opponent Lees-McRae on Sunday came back to bite the team on Monday.

The Cardinals were held out of the American Volleyball Coaches Association top-15 poll for the seventh consecutive week. The snub comes after Ball State upset nationally ranked Lewis 3-1 last Friday.

Lewis fell from 12th in the rankings to 15th this week, but Ball State's loss on Sunday kept the Cardinals from overtaking the Flyers.

Ball State stands in third in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association rankings, behind Ohio State and Loyola, with a conference record of 4-4 on the season. Its conference wins have come against Lewis, IPFW and Quincy twice.

The Cardinals also own an overall record of 14-9 this season. They will begin a four-match conference stretch this weekend with back-to-back home matches against Grand Canyon.
