Ball State may not be playing in the NCAA Tournament, but it still has ties to schools in it
Ohio State – Former baseball coach Greg Beals left Ball State to become the coach at Ohio State last June.
Texas-San Antonio – Women's volleyball was defeated 3-1 by Texas-San Antonio in the 2008 DePaul Invitational in Chicago.
George Mason – Men's volleyball defeated George Mason 3-1 this season on March 5 at Worthen Arena.
Villanova – Professor of biology Clare Chatot earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Villanova University.
West Virginia – Women's tennis swept West Virginia 5-0 in the second part of a doubleheader of the Dayton Tournament this season on Feb. 27.
Clemson – Before coming to Ball State, women's basketball associate head coach Todd Steelman spent the past five seasons as the assistant coach at Clemson University under Cristy McKinney.
Kentucky – In 2006, Ball State baseball upset No. 8 Kentucky in the first game of the NCAA Regionals in Lexington, Ky. Ball State was beaten by Kentucky two days later.
Princeton – In its most recent game, Ball State men's volleyball swept Princeton 3-0 on the road on March 12.
Xavier – Ball State associate athletic director Pat Quinn earned his Bachelor's degree from Xavier in 1968.
Marquette – The men's tennis team hosted the Ball State Invitional in September 2010 that included Marquette as an opponent.
Syracuse – Associated vice president of Facilities Kevin Kenyon spent nine years at Syracuse as director of physical plant.
Indiana State – In the second game of the season, men's basketball defeated Indiana State 75-60 at Worthen Arena.
Washington - The softball team lost to then-No. 17 Washington 6-4 during the 2006 season.
Georgia - Assistant professor of communication studies Kristen McCauliff earned her Ph.D. from Georgia.
North Carolina - Women's volleyball lost to North Carolina 3-1 in September as part of the 2010 Tar Heel Classic.
Long Island - The softball team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Long Island in the Under Armour Showcase this season.
Duke - Offensive line coach John Strollo was an assistant coach at Duke from 2005-07.
Hampton - Hampton psychology professor Adam Johnson earned his bachelor's degree from Ball State.
Michigan - Former Ball State football coach Brady Hoke was hired to be the coach at Michigan on Jan. 11.
Tennessee - Ball State women's basketball defeated defending national champion Tennessee 71-55 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2009.
Arizona - The director of the School of Music at Arizona, Dr. Peter McAllister, held the same position at Ball State.
Memphis - Chairperson of the Department of Journalism Jim Willis was the Hardin chair of excellence in Journalism at Memphis from 1995-2004.
Texas - Former quarterback Nate Davis was a Manning Award finalist in 2009 along with former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy.
Oakland - The women's volleyball team won the 2010 Active Ankle Challenge when they defeated Oakland 3-0 this season.
Cincinnati - Former soccer coach Michelle Salmon left Ball State in 2008 to become the coach at Cincinnati.
Missouri - The women's basketball team suffered a 56-45 loss to Missouri this season on Dec. 1.
Connecticut - The softball team suffered a 7-2 loss to Connecticut this season in the Under Armour Showcase.
Bucknell - Special Teams coordinator Justin Lustig played football for four years at Bucknell as a cornerback and safety.
Temple - Trailing with less than 10 minutes to play in its 2006 meeting, Temple scored 15 consecutive points to beat Ball State 75-70.
Penn State - The men's volleyball team was swept 3-0 by then-No. 10 ranked Penn State in the Outrigger Invitational this season.
San Diego State - After losing the MAC Championship, former football coach Brady Hoke left Ball State to become the coach at San Diego State.
Northern Colorado - The softball team had a game last season against Northern Colorado cancelled because of snow on the field.
Kansas - Former director of Intercollegiate Athletics Bubba Cunningham turned down an offer back in December to leave Tulsa and become the athletic director at Kansas.
Boston University - The softball team defeated Boston 3-2 in a meeting last season.
UNLV - The women's golf team finished 12th in the UNLV Spring Invitational on March 9.
Illinois - Men's tennis was swept 7-0 to Illinois back on March 4 earlier this season.
Vanderbilt - Associate professor of piano James Helton was a faculty member at Vanderbilt before coming to Ball State.
Richmond - The women's basketball team defeated Richmond 77-71 in the Alabama Tournament in the 2009 season.
Louisville - The baseball team lost two games out of three in a series against then-No. 7 Louisville in 2010.
Morehead State - Men's basketball lost 50-48 against Morehead State this season, the first loss at Worthen Arena for Ball State.
Georgetown - Former men's basketball coach Ronny Thompson is the brother of current Georgetown coach John Thompson III.
USC - Men's volleyball coach Joel Walton missed a 2003 road match against USC because of gallbladder surgery.
VCU - President Jo Ann Gora's husband, Roy Budd, got his bachelor's and master's degrees at Virginia Commonwealth.
Purdue - The football team lost at Purdue 24-13 earlier this season, the first game quarterback Keith Wenning started.
St. Peter's - In the 2009 season, the women's basketball team defeated St. Peter's 75-65 in the Aeropostale Holiday Classic.
Texas A&M - Former men's volleyball player and 1973 MIVA Player of the Year David Schakel is an assistant instructional professor of kinesiology at Texas A&M.
Florida State - The arrest of the football team's kicker, Ian McGarvy, put Ball State ahead of Florida State for first place in the 2009 Fulmer Cup Standings.
Notre Dame - Ball State men's basketball coach Billy Taylor played basketball for four years at Notre Dame and was also an assistant coach.
Akron - In its only match up of the season, Akron defeated Ball State in men's basketball 75-60 on Feb. 12 in Akron, Ohio.
Pittsburgh - Gymnastics opened its season with a loss at Pittsburgh where they posted a scored of 190.475.
UNC-Asheville - Assistant professor of music at UNC-Asheville David Wilken earned his B.A. from Ball State.
Butler - Men's basketball suffered an 88-55 loss at Bulter this season on Nov. 20.
Old Dominion - President Jo Ann Gora served as vice president of academic affairs at Old Dominion before coming to Ball State.
Kansas State - Former football coach Stan Parrish had a combined record for 2-30-1 while coach at Kansas State.
Utah State - The gymnastics team competed in the New Hampshire Invitational in 2010; included in the field was Utah State.
Wisconsin - Former tight end Darius Hill's cousin, Montee Ball, is a running back for Wisconsin.
Belmont - The softball team opened the 2011 season with an 8-0 win over Belmont on March 2.
St. John's - Men's basketball was defeated 78-73 by St. John's in the Great Alaskan Shootout on Nov. 24.
Gonzaga - In his first two season at Lehigh, men's basketball coach Billy Taylor won the Patriot League's Coach of the Year, becoming the first coach in NCAA basketball to win a conference's coach of the year honors in his first two seasons since Gonzaga's Mark Few.
BYU - Professor of computer sciences Mike McGrew earned his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young.
Wofford - The men's basketball team lost to Wofford 66-61 this season as part of the BracketBusters.
UCLA - Men's volleyball lost to UCLA 3-1 in the Outrigger Invitational in Hawaii on Jan. 14.
Michigan State - Women's tennis coach Christine Bader played collegiate tennis at Michigan State.
Florida - Former women's volleyball coach Dave Boos resigned in 2010 to become an assistant coach at Florida.
UCSB - The men's basketball team lost to UCSB 79-52 in December of the 2007 season.
