MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Freshman named MIVA Player of the Week

Rouse earns first Player of the Week award

Tommy Rouse is off to a great start.

The redshirt freshman, only a month into his career as the Ball State starting libero, has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Defensive Player of the Week.

Over the weekend, Rouse averaged 3.44 digs per set for a total 31 in Ball State's two matches. He also had a .953 serve reception percentage.

Through the Cardinals six games this season, Rouse has a total of 70 digs and is tied with senior Anders Nelson for the team lead in sets played at 22.

Rouse moved into a starting position for Ball State this season after former libero Billy Ebel, a 3-year letter for Ball State, graduated in 2010.
