The Ball State field hockey team was named a National Academic Team award recipient Wednesday.
The award recognizes any team that achieved at least a 3.0 GPA in the 2010 fall semester.
Kent State, Central Michigan and Miami were the other Mid-American Conference schools to receive the honor.
Fifty-seven Division I teams earned the award. Northwestern had the best total GPA with a 3.54 GPA.
Ball State ended its fall season with a 6-14 overall record and a 2-8 MAC record.
