WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals losing streak reaches four

Finishes trip in Mexico with loss to Nevada

Ball State finished the Caribbean Classic without a win after a 74-70 loss to University of Nevada Reno Tuesday afternoon.

The Cardinals started the game on a 12-4 run against the Wolfpack but lost the lead halfway through the first half.

After four lead changes in the first half, Ball State went into the locker room trailing 30-27. Ball State had 15 points off turnovers in the first half.

In the second half, Ball State jumped out early again to take a 50-42 lead before Nevada rallied back with a 14-2 run.

In the final minutes of the game, the Cardinals twice tied the game before foul situation allowed the Wolfpack to extend the lead.

Senior forward Emily Maggert made two foul shots with a minute to play to cut the Nevada lead to 72-70 but could not get another basket.

Maggert led the team with another 18-point performance and grabbed seven rebounds. Senior guard Ty'ronda Benning and freshman guard Brandy Woody each scored 12 points. Woody also committed eight turnovers in the game.

The loss to Nevada extends Ball State's losing streak to four games, the longest losing streak of the season.
