WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals' season over with quarterfinals loss to Rockets

Benning scores team-high 16 points for Ball State

CLEVELAND – The Ball State University women's basketball team's season ended today with a 67-56 loss to the University of Toledo in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at Quicken Loans Arena.

Junior forward Ty'Ronda Benning led the seventh-seeded Cardinals with 16 points.

Senior guard Audrey McDonald scored 13 points, while senior forward Danielle Gratton added two in their final games for Ball State.

Guard Naama Shafir finished with a game-high 18 points for No. 2 seed Toledo, which advances to play the winner of No. 3 seed Kent State University and No. 6 seed Central Michigan University in tomorrow's noon semifinal.

Ball State's season ends at 14-17.
