FIELD HOCKEY: Cards fall to Longwood on Senior Day

The Ball State University field hockey team dropped two games this weekend at home to fall to 3-12 on the season.

Early into the first game of the weekend, Central Michigan University wasted no time by taking the lead eight minutes into the contest.

The Chippewas would later put another shot in the net, making the score 2-0 at the half. The Cardinals were outshot 10-4 in the first half.

The second half was much of the same as the Chippewas logged nine more shots.
The lead was extended with two more goals at the 44:22 and 50:34 marks for a final score of 4-0.

For Senior Day on Sunday, Ball State fell 2-1 to Longwood University.

The game was the last time seniors Brooke MacGillivary and Tiffany Shifflett would set foot onto the BSU Turf Field as Cardinals.

Ball State led the offensive statistics by posting 24 shots, 15 of which came in the second half.

The Lancers were more than doubled in shots on goal, but still managed to put two shots into the net on four attempts in the second half.

Ball State saw a glimmer of hope when Leann Carroll put the Cardinals on the board off a penalty stroke.

A late rush by the Cardinals was to no avail as the Lancers held their lead to the end of the game picking up the win 2-1.
